How is Sugar Waxing different than Hard Waxing?
Unlike wax, Sugar is 100% all-natural, made from just sugar, lemons & water. The application of Sugar and wax are also opposite to each other. Sugar is applied against the hair growth and removed with the hair growth. Sugaring also doesn't require heat like hard wax, making it safer for the skin. Plus, it adheres only to the hair, not the skin, resulting in less painful hair removal. Altogether, this leads to less pain, less irritation, and longer-lasting results!
-
Does Sugar Waxing hurt?
7 out of 10 Sugar Me Smooth users say that sugar waxing hurts far less than other forms of waxing! Sugar is applied against the hair growth and removed with the hair growth (opposite to waxing). This leads to less tugging on the hair when removing. And unlike hard & other waxes, sugar sticks to the hair and NOT the skin! Remember, we're still talking about removing hair directly from the hair follicle- some discomfort can be expected. But as you consistently sugar, your hair grows back thinner and softer and the pain decreases with each sugaring session!
-
How easy is it to use for beginners?
There's a slight learning curve, but with our detailed instructions and the flicker applicator, you'll become a pro in no time!
-

-

-

You can expect one jar to cover either 3x Both Legs, 5x Both Arms, 10x Both Underarms, 12x Both Feet, or 12x Both Hands. Our best selling Body Jar will be enough to remove hair from your entire body! (This may very person-to-person)

-
What's in the Sugar Wax?
Sugar, lemons and water - that’s it! At Sugar Me Smooth we only use the highest quality, all-natural ingredients. Nothing is ever synthetic or diluted. All of our sugar is 100% all-natural and vegan friendly.
-
Will the Sugar work on places other than where it says on the jar?
Yes! ALL sugar will work on ALL areas.
The Bikini and Face sugars are infused with Licorice Root to help reduce sting and redness in sensitive areas, so we suggest that if you are wanting to sugar a sensitive area (bikini, face, underarm) that these sugars be used. However, if you purchased the Body jar, it will still work on the sensitive ares!

Does hair grow back thicker or darker after Sugaring?
No, sugaring removes hair from the root, which often results in finer regrowth over time.
-
How long should hair be before Sugar Waxing?
Sugar Me Smooth picks up shorter hair than waxing, however we still recommend 3-7 days post shaving length, or 1/4-1/2 inch (about the length of a grain of rice).
-
Does the Sugar need to be heated?
Nope! Our Sugar naturally warms with the temperature of the skin and does not need to be heated before use.
-
What is the "Practice Patch"?
The Practice Patch is the test area on your skin where you will practice sugaring and learn how to flick.
Just like most skin-care products, we advise you practice using Sugar Me Smooth on the inside of your wrist before attempting another areas. We suggest this for a few reasons:
1. Testing the sugar on the wrist will tell you if you'll have a reaction to the sugar before putting it in more intimate or sensitive areas like the bikini or face. Our sugar is 100% all natural, made with only sugar, lemons, and water, so there shouldn't be a reaction.
2. Practicing on the wrist will allow you to master the technique before moving to more sensitive, difficult areas like the bikini , underarm, face, etc. The wrist doesn't have a lot of hair and has naturally tight skin so practicing there should not cause unnecessary pain.
3. Warning: Customers that do not do the Practice Patch on the inside of the wrist, but do it where they were planning to sugar anyway report more pain, redness, and irritation. Start at the wrist and save yourself the frustration!

Which Flicker should I use?
For beginners, we suggest starting with the Small Flicker as it is smaller and easier to manage!
The Large Flicker is great for use on large areas such as: Back, Chest, Legs, Arms
The Small Flicker is great for use: Cheek, Lip, Arm, Bikini / Brazilian, Underarm
The Spot Flicker is great for use: Eyebrow , Upper Lip, Tough areas of the Bikini / Brazilian, Toes / Fingers
-
How much Sugar should I use?
This will vary depending on body area. When Sugaring the legs or arms, use a golf ball sized piece. When Sugaring the face or bikini area, use a marble sized piece. When learning to Sugar, it's best to start with less Sugar on the flicker.
-
Do I have to use the Prepping Powder before Sugaring?
We highly recommend using our talc-free Prepping Powder with every Sugaring session for best results. Prepping Powder absorbs excess oils and moisture on the skin, allowing the sugar to better adhere to the hair, creates an extra barrier between Sugar and sensitive skin, AND can reduce sting! A little prepping powder goes a long way, and can make all the difference when using Sugar Me Smooth.
-
What if my Sugar seems too sticky?
Sugar that is too warm will become sticky and difficult to flick. Sugar quickly warms to the skin's temperature, so we recommend Sugaring in a cool, dry climate. Sugaring with few clothes on in front of a fan is ideal!
Sugar should be quite firm when scooping it out of the jar. If your Sugar seems too soft, we recommend popping it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to cool before using.
Remember, if you find yourself in a sticky mess with Sugar so warm it won't flick, stop! Continuing to try to flick can cause bruising and pain. We recommend hopping in the shower and rinsing with warm water. When you're ready to try again, just be sure your skin is completely dry.
-
My Sugar isn't removing all the hair?
This could mean that either the hair is too short, the skin isn't dry enough, or the hair is growing in different directions.
We recommend 3-7 days post shaving length, or 1/4 to 1/2 an inch (about the length of a grain of rice). Since hair grows in different cycles, sometimes the Sugar will pick up the hair that is longer and leave behind hair that is too short. If this is the case, try waiting a few days for this hair to grow longer, and then sugar again.
Remember that Sugar is much more gentle on the skin than wax. This allows you to go over the same spot in different directions without damaging the skin if the hair is growing in different directions.
Any excess moisture, make-up, oil or lotion can cause the Sugar to not be able to fully adhere to the hair. Make sure to always sugar with clean, dry skin for optimal results. Use our Prepping Powder for the most efficient Sugaring sessions!
-
How do I dispose of used Sugar?
We recommend wetting the used Sugar on the flicker by holding it under running water for a second (this will decrease stick and help with removal). Then, scoop as much of it off the flicker as your can, and dispose in the trash. This method is shown in the Express How-To video.
Then, simply rub the remaining Sugar on the Flicker under warm water and it will melt away. If Sugar goes down the drain, no worries! It's water-soluble and will dissolve quickly. Hair on the other hand, could cause clogged pipes eventually, so try to toss as much of it as possible.
-
I spilled my Sugar! How do I clean it up?
Our Sugar is water soluble for easy cleanup! We recommend trying to scrape up as much of the Sugar as possible to start. Then, simply rub the area with a warm wet rag and the Sugar will dissolve.
-
Can I use this on any body part?
Yes, our product is versatile and can be used on various parts of the body, including the bikini area, legs, arms, and face.
-
Is there any aftercare product you recommend?
We recommend using our Soothing Solution or Soothing Mist directly after Sugaring. In the days to follow, use a complementary Body Scrub and moisturizing products to achieve the best results and maintain healthy, hairless skin.
Skin Questions
-
Can I use Sugar on sensitive skin?
Our Sugar is 100% all-natural (the only ingredients are sugar, lemons, & water!) and will pull the hair out by the root. This means it is much more gentle on the skin than other hair removal techniques and your skin is far less likely to have any reaction! We recommend using our Prepping Powder before sugaring to help create a barrier between the Sugar and your skin, and our Soothing Solution to reduce redness and soothe the skin after Sugaring!
If you have concerns about specific skin conditions, we always recommend speaking with a medical professional before use.
-
How do I avoid bruising?
Bruising can be caused by flicking upwards instead of parallel to the skin, not holding the skin tight enough, or Sugaring hair that is too long. Pulling up on the Sugar, and not holding skin taut will cause unnecessary tugging on the skin. With your non-Sugaring hand, pull that skin TIGHT! Then, when flicking, imagine removing a bandaid - start at the very edge and quickly flick parallel to the skin to avoid pulling on the skin.
Until you really master the flicking technique, bruising can happen. If you have a beach vacation coming up, and it's your first time Sugaring, we suggest waiting until afterwards just in case you end up with some bruising.
-
Red or bumpy skin after Sugaring?
Those little red bumps are the empty hair follicles where hair was just pulled from. The bumps typically occur if the hair was too long when it was removed. Optimal hair length is between 1/4-1/2" (about the length of a grain of rice). If it is longer than this, it's possible that the sugar will pull the skin more, leading to those little raised bumps.
Redness after sugaring can occur. Because hair is being ripped from the follicle, sometimes it's the body's natural response to send blood to the area where it believes needs healing. Within a few hours the redness will fade and you'll be left with smooth, beautiful skin.
Try our Soothing Mist or Soothing Solution to reduce redness and soothe the skin post-sugaring!
-
How do I care for my skin after Sugaring?
Apply Soothing Solution or Soothing Mist immediately after a sugaring session will help sooth and care for the skin.
Avoid sun exposure for 24 hour post-sugaring. Your fresh skin can be extra prone to sun burns!
When sugaring the face, we encourage you to wait several hours before applying makeup or moisturizers.
As a continued smooth skin care regimen, try our Body Oils, Sugar Scrubs, Lotion Sticks and more to maintain healthy, glowing skin! -
Can Sugaring prevent strawberry legs/chicken skin?
Yes! The dotted appearance of Strawberry legs is often a result of dead skin cells in hair follicles. Sugar gently exfoliates, while removing the hair from the root and can significantly help the appearance of Strawberry Legs.
