First Recipient of Carson's Cause

The first recipient of the Carson’s Cause semi-annual donation was –ASSERT -Autism Support Services: Education, Research, and Training Program at Utah State University (USU). The ASSERT Program at USU works with the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation and aims to improve the lives of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). While based at USU, ASSERT is a model for programs reaching across the world.  For more information on the ASSERT Program, visit https://assert.usu.edu/index

This donation from a percentage of Sugar Me Smooth sales from January – July 2018 was given at the beginning of September 2018 and went to buy books for a new classroom. This is the first of many donations to nonprofit organizations focused on helping individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Below is what BJ had to say about the donation:

“We knew when starting this we wanted to go to ASSERT first.  We know the ASSERT Program does a great job helping kids learn to help themselves. We have a personal connection with ASSERT because my son Carson was one of the first students there and greatly benefited from the program.  We are pleased that our customers can make a difference when they buy Sugar Me Smooth products and we are excited to tell them about what good it does.”

In 2018 Sugar Me Smooth started the Carson's Cause Initiative, which is a way to give back to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
